Wilson Street Studio has arranged for artist Edward Abela to work with you over three-days at this fabulous location in Tweed, Ontario. |
"Invitation", Edward Abela
For over 30 years, Edward has painted throughout Canada and Europe. This experience informs his approach to Ontario’s landscape. Edward acts as a mentor and instructor, in both oil and acrylic, helping you reach new insights in your painting.
Your weekend in Tweed begins Thursday evening after check in with an orientation session and a walk-about the grounds to size up locations for painting en pein air.
There are spectacular places where granite of one epoch has ground into the marble of another resulting in rugged cliff faces. In other areas the water provides soothing scenes against the dark forest. The cabins themselves are very painterly. After choosing a location, you’ll be ready for our 9 am Friday start. You get down to painting right away, taking advantage of the morning light. At noon, Edward will give a demo, then lunch and back to some serious painting for the rest of the day.
Saturday we begin the day with painting a new location in the morning, a demo at noon, followed by more individual painting with Edward mentoring you every step of the way.
Depending upon the weather, and group consensus, Sunday might include a trip to one of the local villages to paint their historic sights, or we will continue painting on the property, where you can tackle a new subject or finish up your work from Saturday. In the afternoon, before we all say goodbye, we will have a chance to review everyone’s work and learn from each other.

Fee: $550 including 3 nights lodgings, meals, studio (in case of inclement weather), instruction and spectacular scenery.
Rate for local artists who want to join the lessons and the meals, but don’t need to stay at the resort. $350
Rate for non-painting spouses or friends. $400
$250 non-refundable deposit required.
